Practical, evidence-based, and shaped around you.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is one of the most widely researched talking therapies, recommended by the NHS and NICE for a broad range of difficulties. It works on the relationship between our thoughts, feelings and behaviour — gently surfacing the patterns that keep us stuck, and giving us practical tools to change them.

What is CBT?

CBT is an evidence-based therapy that explores the link between how thoughts can impact how you feel and behave. The therapist and client work together to look at more beneficial thinking styles, creating positive feelings and altering behaviours. CBT has a strong evidence base for a wide range of mental health problems in adults, older adults, children and young people. It is the first-line treatment for many mental health difficulties and is recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).

How many sessions will I need?

That all depends on you. I offer individual CBT sessions and the number of sessions varies based on the difficulty you need help with. Sessions are usually between six and twenty and last around 50 minutes. An assessment is required to understand your specific difficulties and to set goals that you would like to achieve.

Where can I have CBT?

CBT can be provided in a wide range of settings — in a therapy room, in the comfort of your home, in schools and via video call. CBT can be easily accessed, especially for those who have busy lives. I offer sessions in person across Hertfordshire, London and Essex, and securely online wherever you are.
